June, the first month of summer. The lushness of everything green; flowers and bugs all come out in June, one of my favorites, the firefly. At dusk sitting on my deck with a glass of wine watching all the fireflies is one of my gifts to self! Speaking of gifts, my beautiful, elderly neighbor Marie gave me all kinds of plants to start my garden with just outside of my studio door. I love being able to work and talk with Marie when she’s out in her garden, we weed, dig and talk a lot.
There’s always a lot sharing with Marie. She is like a deep well of wisdom. If you ever have an elderly neighbor, share time with them, listen to their stories and history, ask questions. When I work in the dirt with my hands there’s a release in culling the weeds and also a calmness that takes on similar to meditation.
