June Class – Pigmented Paper and Geli Printing
Dates: June 17th & 18th | Times: Saturday 10:00 am – 3:00 pm, Sunday: 10:30 am – 2:00 pm
Come ready to learn about different papers and get your hands wet in the paint. Saturday we will cover the basics about different papers and the way that they can be used, their weights, what’s the best medium to use with the acrylic paints that we will be working with. I’ll go over the suggested paints and acrylic mediums and their uses, as well as how to attach papers to canvas, board, paper and panels.
Geli printing, which has so many variables to print very unique and beautiful pieces can be used just as art or added to your mixed media process. I will demonstrate both processes on Saturday with stations set up for you to print or pigment.
Sunday we will make a lampshade covered in some of your papers.
July Class – Batik Resist making your own placements, napkins and/or table runner
Dates: July 15th & 16th | Times: Saturday 10:00 am – 4:00 pm, Sunday: 10:30 am – 2:00 pm
Batik resist is my newest of additions to my work with paper. It is the use of wax resist on paper or textiles to create one layer or multiple layers of color through. I will talk about the history of Batik resist and we will explore all the different ways to print with singular and multiple colors. It’s easy to get lost in the intricacy of using the wax with multiple designs, layers of color and using printing with wood blocks. I thought it would be fun for everyone to go home with something that is specially made for your home. You can choose from making your own placemats, napkins, or table runner.
August Class – Make your own Journal with hand pigmented papers
Dates: August 19th & 20th | Times: Saturday 10:00 am – 3:00 pm, Sunday: 10:30 am – 2:00 pm
Journals are the where the magic is made, especially if you have created your own. We will use basic bookmaking materials to construct two journals from various papers that have been created in my studio. If you have taken any of the previous workshops, some of the papers that you’ve created can be used as your book covers. The journals will be made with 140 lb watercolor paper so you can write or use mixed media in your journal. These are great to take on upcoming trips or to give as gifts!
